Research interests:

Urban studies are my main field of interest. I study urban settlements as spatial, social, cultural and legal phenomena as well as ecosystems. I concentrate on late medieval and early modern European towns, but I find urban centres of any period and any socio-material culture fascinating. I try to combine different methodological approaches, heading into direction of trans-disciplinary study of the past.

Among other topics that I explore crime and punishment, demi-monde, social marginalisation, and language as a tool of violence and conflicts.

Additional interests: editing of historical sources, methods and methodology of material culture studies, archaeogaming.
