W dniach 14-16 czerwca 2023 w Muzeum Tatrzańskim im. dra Tytusa Chałubińskiego w Zakopanem odbędzie się II Międzynarodowa Konferencja „ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE MOUNTAINS: RESEARCH, METHODS, ANALYSIS”.

Idea cyklu Konferencji zrodziła się w 2017 roku i była dedykowana Profesorowi Andrzejowi Żakiemu (1923-2017). Był on jednym z pionierów i wieloletnim badaczem najstarszego osadnictwa obszarów górskich, współtwórcą czasopisma Acta Archaeologica Carpathica, twórcą Karpackiej Ekspedycji Archeologicznej z siedzibą w Krakowie. „Archeologia gór” to termin zdefiniowany przez Niego na łamach pierwszego numeru czasopisma Acta Archaeologica Carpathica. Problematyka ta koncentruje się wokół najstarszego osadnictwa obszarów górskich na tle przemian środowiska
przyrodniczego.

Celem konferencji jest zrzeszenie i umożliwienie wymiany doświadczeń badaczy obszarów górskich oraz prezentacji lokalnych stanowisk archeologicznych.

The 2nd International Conference “ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE MOUNTAINS: RESEARCH, METHODS, ANALYSIS” will be held on 14 - 16 June 2023 at the Tatra Museum in Zakopane, Poland.

The idea of the Conference series was born in 2017 and it was then dedicated to Professor Andrzej Żaki (1923 - 2017). He was one of the pioneers and long-time researchers of the oldest settlement of mountain areas, co-founder of the journal Acta Archaeologica Carpathica and founder of the Carpathian Archaeological Expedition based in Krakow. “Archaeology of the mountains” is the term he defined in the first volume of Acta Archaeologica Carpathica.

The subject focuses on the issue of oldest settlement of mountain areas on the background of transformations of the natural environment. The Conference aims to bring together and enable researchers of mountain areas to exchange experiences and to present local archaeological sites and areas of historical, geological or palaeobotanical interest.
