Research interests:
Research interests are concentrated on issues of the Pre-history of north-eastern Africa, and primarily on economic foundations and spiritual culture of the Epipalaeolithic hunting-gathering, pastoral and early farming communities that inhabited the eastern Sahara and the Sub-Saharan zone at the end of Pleistocene and in the early and middle Holocene. The second field of scientific interests are the problems of acquisition of stone raw materials and flint processing by the Final Paleolithic and Mesolithic hunting-gathering and early farming communities which inhabited the Central European Lowland. Of special interest are issues regarding the exploitation processes and processing technology of raw materials, issues regarding cave art and the idea of Megalithism. Interests concern the national heritage and culture protection issues in Poland. Excavations in: Poland, Holland, Egypt and Sudan. He was the leader of excavations on numerous multicultural sites in Poland, including lately in Kopanica, site 29 and Smolno Wielkie „Wyspa (Island)” in the so called Wojnowo Region – Lubusz Voivodeship. As part of the Combined Prehistoric Expedition he lead excavations at the sites: „Góra Ofiarna (Sacrificial Mountain)” in Nabta Playa, „Camp” in Gebel Ramlah and in Berget el Sheb as well as Gebel Fentas (Western Desert of Egypt). Within the framework of the projects of the MNiSW (Ministry of Science and Higher Education) and NCN (National Science Center) as well as own projects he lead excavations at sites in Bir Nurayet, Karaiweb, in Wadi Awateb and Khor Shambat in Sudan.
